Message on the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action

国际提高地雷意识和协助地雷行动日致辞

An unprecedented volume of landmines and unexploded weapons contaminates rural and urban war zones, maiming and killing innocent civilians long after conflict has ended.

当前，沦为战场的乡村和城市地区留有数量空前的地雷和未爆弹药，即便冲突已结束很长时间，仍在炸死炸伤无辜平民。

Mine action is vital.

排雷行动，至关重要。

Roads cleared of explosive devices enable peacekeepers to patrol and protect civilians.

清除道路上的爆炸装置，有利维和人员进行巡逻、保护平民。

And when fields are cleared and schools and hospitals are made safe, normal life can resume.

清理田野、保障学校和医院的安全，有利人民恢复正常生活。

I urge all Governments to provide political and financial support to enable mine action work to continue, wherever it is needed.

我敦促各国政府提供政治和财政支助，以便在一切有需要的地方继续开展地雷行动工作。

In our turbulent world, mine action is a concrete step towards peace.

在我们这个动荡的世界上，地雷行动是迈向和平的一个具体步骤。
